Personality
The exact origins of Serbia are rather blurred, but there is no doubt that he’s been around for a very long time. As a child, he had a lot of optimism and energy even though things weren’t always easy. One of the first events in his life was being seized by the Byzantine Empire. While a notable influence, Serbia from the very beginning was someone who loved to be the boss over himself. He fought hard to then establish himself as the Serbian Kingdom in 1217. Back then, Serbia was also a devoted older brother figure to others, notably Kosovo. They were very close, and if anyone dared hurt her, Serbia would get back at them. Even though those early centuries were crazy and all over the place, Serbia was able to make good friends with most of those around him – and one of his biggest regrets was how history took many of those friendships and made turns for the worst.

It was around the years of the Ottoman Empire that changed a lot of Serbia’s outlook on life. The wars he lost were also the wars in which he saw himself and those who mattered the most to him suffer and it killed him so much inside to see that. Serbia has since become a lot more cynical than he was previously, and he became damn good at holding a grudge against certain people. He also began to train much, much harder, just so he and those precious to him won’t suffer again. It was wishful thinking, but during his time in the Ottoman Empire, it became his obsession whenever he was able to have time to himself.

To those that knew Serbia well before the Ottoman Empire arrived would have noticed the change. Unfortunately, this negative change took over Serbia for many years and he found it really hard to go back to his original self. It did return eventually, when he was able to fight and be free of the Ottomans and he began to recollect himself and the person he truly is.

And Serbia’s true self is someone who is extremely extroverted, chatty, fun and a fiercely loyal friend. He becomes miserable when he’s left alone by himself, only really comfortable if someone’s with him. Perhaps that’s why he treasures his friends and holds them dear. If you manage to befriend this guy, you’ll have to do a lot to really piss him off. Serbia is very attached to his closest friends and he loves to be at the centre of the social circle. He loves to tell jokes and good naturedly tease others and do all sorts of activities with his friends. Being the energetic and physical type of guy that he is, Serbia will often get his friends involved in something to do outdoors, or some kind of indoor sport. Friends and family are valued very strongly.

Sport is one of Serbia’s passion, which started from an early age. He hates to sit still and he gets a lot of satisfaction from it. Keeping healthy and fit is important to him, and he thinks it makes his body look damn good. His favourite sports are Waterpolo, Basketball and Tennis (especially if it’s doubles!) and because of this, he’s developed an athletic body, especially for swimming. His height helps him a lot in basketball too, and he was the likely driving force behind Yugoslavia in basketball competitions – and yes, they did very well! Serbia’s a natural competitor and when he has a goal in mind, he has to go for it or he knows he’ll regret it. Sometimes his ‘competitions’ are extremely petty, but it’s probably better he has something to do – he really hates being bored!

Despite being a very physical kind of guy, Serbia is actually pretty intelligent and in touch of with his emotions. He may not be intelligent in terms of science and maths and all that stuff, but he’s got a natural cunning streak that has seen him through many events in history and has helped win him battles and solve problems. If only others were more aware of his cunning. He hates it when people act as though they’re more intelligent than he is, even when he knows it’s true.

The truth is that his confidence levels aren’t as high as he makes them out to be. For many centuries he has hated a lot of things – what happened to him, what he could have done better, he himself as a person, etc. He’s an incredibly vulnerable and easily hurt person, but he’d rather shoot himself than let other know that. Very few have seen him at his absolute lowest and they may be the only ones who ever will. When upset, Serbia tends to make his temper flare in an attempt to sound stronger and harsher than what he’s actually feeling. He’s got a short temper to disguise his real emotional wounds that he gets from time to time. His other flaw when it comes to his emotions is the fact that he can be incredibly stubborn. It’s for this reason that Serbia can rub others the wrong way very easily, unless of course, you’re a friend of his. If you’re a friend of Serbia’s, he tries very, very hard to show the finer points of his personality.

While not many know this, Serbia actually enjoys cooking. It’s actually considered a good thing if all members of the family can cook well, so he learned rather quickly. His cuisine has a lot of various influences and he enjoys it, but sometimes he’s rather envious of the food other countries have. He’s aware that he’s not considered as ‘fancy’ as other countries in Europe when it comes to cuisine, the arts, etc. Someday he’d love to be let into the EU, but he hasn’t had the great succession with that. It is something he wishes to work towards though – he hates it when he wants to join in something and he’s not being allowed to. That’s his extrovert traits shining through.

However, it’s because of the way he is that he does have a strong sense of leadership and rallying people onto his side. He does enjoy bossing others around, but it’s this traits that show he’s someone who can get things done. Serbia’s a very pro-active guy who takes a lot of initiative. He’s a fast thinker and recognising what there is for him to work with. While he may not always like the person, he is able to recognise the good and bad points in another person, be it their personality traits, what they are good or bad at, what they can bring to the table, etc. Perhaps he is the one who ought to be turned to when a zombie apocalypse breaks out?

Overall, Serbia is an extroverted guy who is able to get himself noticed and stick in people’s minds. To some he seems stubborn, quick-tempered and not the ideal guy to be with, but to others, he is one of the best friends they could ever have. He can be pretty cynical and snarky with others, but he can also be full of fun and energy.

Foreign Relations (WIP)
(yes there is a shitload of relations. I thought it would be better to have all of them for now and gradually delete the ones that seem less significant. It is true however, that Serbia is probably one of the main social butterflies of the Balkans, omfg. This dude gets around?)

[Verse 1]
Od Bihaća do Petrovca sela, do Petrovca sela
Srpska zemlja napadnuta cela, napadnuta cela

[Refrain]
Karadžiću vodi Srbe svoje, vodi Srbe svoje
Nek se vidi, nikog se ne boje, nikog se ne boje

[Verse 2]
Joj da vide hrvatske Ustaše, hrvatske Ustaše
Ne dirajte vi ognjište naše, vi ognjiste naše

[Refrain]
Karadžiću vodi Srbe svoje, vodi Srbe svoje
Nek se vidi, nikog se ne boje, nikog se ne boje

[Verse 3]
Iz Krajine krenuli su vuci, krenuli su vuci
Čuvajte se Ustaše i Turci, Ustaše i Turci

[Refrain]
Karadžiću vodi Srbe svoje, vodi Srbe svoje
Nek se vidi, nikog se ne boje, nikog se ne boje

[Verse 4]
U odbrani svoga srpskog roda, svoga srpskog roda
Borimo se, draga nam sloboda, draga nam sloboda

[Refrain]
Karadžiću vodi Srbe svoje, vodi Srbe svoje
Nek se vidi, nikog se ne boje, nikog se ne boje
Nek se vidi, nikog se ne boje, nikog se ne boje
