This started from a headcanon around the time in which Colombia (along with the other members of Gran Colombia) rebelled against Spain back in the early 1800s. The idea was that my Colombia OC did grow up a lot more. She was the type of girl who fussed a bit too much over her looks and working out how a 'proper lady' should be. However it got to the point where she realised that she should define for herself what kind of woman she should be and mark out a path for herself. She wanted to be respected and for others to recognise her fierce nature and her courage. In that process, she decided to cut her hair.
It used to be longer (tbh her hair used to look more like how
's Panama's hair did, just with the different bangs) and while she's let her hair grow a bit more since, she's never fully grown it out the way her sisters Venezuela and Panama did. Colombia began to show more of an energetic, tough personality from the rebelling onwards. She's someone who hates to be underestimated and generally marches to the beat of her own drum.
this started out from a sketch and I really wanted to colour it... it's kinda rare that I get the time to do art based on historical headcanons and stuff. And I really hope you guys like it! And lol, you don't have to necessarily agree with my headcanons btw. This is just how I want my Colombia OC to be: strong, determined, fierce, owns her flaws and well, her personality in general... while she does still like giving herself makeovers and looking fabulous, she's also recognised other priorities and things that should be focused upon more.
